Vendor Spotlight: Mercantile Hall, Burlington, WI | Wisconsin Wedding Venue
Mercantile Hall is a pretty special wedding venue in my hometown of Burlington, WI, and it's such a gift whenever I get to do a wedding or event there. Their motto is "Urban feel, small town love" and they nail it on the head with every single wedding they do.
But Mercantile Hall hasn't always been a wedding venue!
When I was growing up, the building was Schuette-Daniels furniture store. My parents bought their living room set from there in 1997 shortly after they got married. My grandma also took me there to look for a new recliner for her once her old one bit the dust.
She told me, "Go pick out the prettiest shade of blue you can find."
I happily obliged.
In another lifetime, the building was also a department store, Montgomery Ward, and before that it was the Keuper mercantile, an old-school mall. The history of this building is where Mercantile Hall got its name, honoring the traditions and the roots of small town Burlington, WI. Built in 1914, this building has also been a Burlington landmark for over 100 years.
In 2014, the furniture store was devastated by a major 5-alarm fire. While working through the debris, they uncovered the original brick interiors of the building. Amazingly, they also discovered the original hardwood floors — still intact after being covered with a fireproof covering for all those years.
Mercantile Hall opened their doors as Burlington's only industrial, urban event venue in Spring 2017.
One of my favorite parts of doing weddings at Mercantile Hall is the Urb Garden. An outdoor patio space with room for your ceremony and for your guests to party outdoors and get some fresh air after dinner, with music and a firepit with all the s'mores equipment on hand. They also have Suesanna — the vintage camper bar that's perfect for your cocktail hour and your bride and groom portraits!
