When Emily emailed me asking about wedding photography back in 2018, I knew this day was going to be epic. Emily and I have known each other since our days of doing the Haylofter's children's production every summer when we were kids. Running lines, playing theatre games on the lawn, and trying on red lipstick in the Ad Room later morphed into us working at Adrian's together in high school, and Emily (+ a lot of her bridesmaids!) used to model for me in my early photography days. Honestly, this wedding was kind of like a mini high school reunion for all of us and I'm not mad about it!
Emily and Steve's wedding was romantic and fairytale-like with a dash of Disney for Emily and Indiana Pacers basketball for Steve (plus the occasional fart joke, lol). They infused so much of them and their personalities into their big day! Emily is a big Disney freak and made Steve promise that they could go to Disney for her if they went to Pacers games for Steve. And their wedding colors were blue and gold, same as the Pacers. I can also say this is the first wedding I've been to that mentioned farting in their vows. (These two definitely know how to keep it real!)
Having the pleasure to know Emily and her family for as long as I have, and being able to capture one of the most special days of her life, makes me super emotional. All the sisters did Haylofter's plays every summer, and their older brother sat behind me in English Lit class my junior year of high school. Everything felt like it was coming full circle for everyone. A lot of my high school friend's parents came up to me and said, "Oh, you're the girl who took all those pictures that filled up my computer at home!" and we all had a laugh and reminisced over the times my friends waded into the lake fully clothed, walked around downtown dressed like mimes, and wandered in and out of greenhouses (amongst other things).
Emily and Steve jetted off to Hawaii for their honeymoon, and then came home and closed on a house! Congratulations you two. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you.
Side note: Sorry boys, but the girls are better at striking a pose than you guys. ;)
